Welcome to the Troop 38 Hanover's Web Site.

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. For nearly a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through nearly a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

Congratulations to Troop 38’s Newest Eagle Scout - Jacob DeMong!

Posted on Aug 10 2023 - 7:44am

In the busy days just prior to National Jamboree and summer camp, our very own Jacob DeMong reached the height of Eagle Scout status! Jacob’s multiple blue bird and bat house build and station Eagle Project at Sylvester Field will ensure that area will be a rich habitat for birds and other wildlife for many years to come.

Congratulations to Troop 38’s Newest Eagle Scout - Eamonn Martin!

Posted on Dec 29 2022 - 11:14am

I’m very delighted to announce that Eamonn Martin reached the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout on December 27 at 8:38:38pm!

Eamonn has been around the Scouting Program his whole life often tagging along with his brother Liam’s Den 5 Pack 37 group and then as one of the "three musketeers" in Mr. Hunt’s Den 1. Those fifteen years from 3 to 18 have truly flown by, but he always had this achievement in his sight and he dutifully pursued it.

Eamonn has held many positions in the troop and has attended every summer camp that the troop took part in. Like any gratifying leadership role, the hardest challenges provided the best accomplishment. As co-SPL of Summer Camp 2021, he and his team in the Senior Patrol had to hold themselves together, lead meal prep for 60 people, handle weather challenges, and keep camp lighthearted—especially for the 25 of our 50 Scouts who were away from home for the first time.

As often the case with active adult leaders, their Scout is usually to first to arrive and the last to leave. Such was the case with Eamonn with me as Scoutmaster, yet he always took it in stride. Also Eamonn has always been a great sounding board for new programing ideas. And best of all, we have shared lots of laughs on so many return trips.

Eamonn loves his fellow Scouts—from the older guys that have moved on in life to the youngest joining the troop. He has a gift to appreciate and see everyone’s unique talents and contributions in our vast troop. Eamonn has never come to me to talk bad about ANYONE in the troop either. I’ve always found that remarkable with the shear amount of adventures shared, yet now I know it is truly the behavior of a model Eagle Scout.

Congratulations Eamonn! I’m always so proud of you and love you!

Congratulations to Troop 38’s Newest Eagle Scout - Chase Puleo!

Posted on Dec 16 2022 - 1:32pm

Can I get a Wooo-aaaaa on THREE for a Mr. Chase Puleo?!! Chase just passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review last night at 9:38:38.

There is no doubt that Troop 38 benefits from the energy and enthusiasm that Chase brings to our activities and meetings. Chase is a solid rock of support to our Scouting community. He’s never shy about his love for the Scouting program and his brother Scouts in the troop. Chase lives life large. His leadership style is at times very caring and instructional, and at other times just the right amount of TNT that a troop of 70 Scouts needs. Rarely will you ever find a young man with so much high energy and enthusiasm balanced with such a warm and caring heart.

Chased reconstructed the gazebo behind the boys club gym. It will stand strong for many years to come!

Very proud of you Chase! Keep chasing your goals and dreams! We’re rooting you on.

Congratulations to Troop 38’s Newest Eagle Scout - Griffin Corrick!

Posted on Dec 16 2022 - 1:31pm

It’s with great pleasure that I announce our own Griffin Corrick has reached the highest rank in Scouting! Griffin wrapped up his Eagle Board of Review last night at 7:38:38.

We are so proud of Griffin’s growth and development in his years in the troop since his Crossover in early 2017. Far from finished, Griffin will remain on as co-SPL and will continue to be an important leader in the troop throughout 2023. His clear logic and decisive action is an important contribution to the current SPL leadership team.

Griffin’s Eagle Project was an amazing lesson in perseverance, scheduling, coordination, business planning, long-term communication, and building skills. Griffin’s reconstruction of the main function hall entrance with awning replacement at the American Legion Hall took about 18 months to complete. The completed result is beautiful. Griffin and his ambitious project received lots of accolades from the American Legion and the Town of Hanover alike— much more than he wanted I’m sure! But Griffin spoke in front of large groups with confidence and was a great ambassador for our troop and the BSA.

Congratulations Griffin on this huge accomplishment in your life! I’m sure there will be many more. Once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout!
